Subscription & Paywall
Design a subscription paywall for a content product that blocks premium articles, lessons, or tools after a user reaches a limit. Show the point where access stops, what remains available, and how the product explains the value of subscribing.
The screen should make the lock state obvious at a glance: dim or blur the gated content, label what is free versus premium, and present the subscription offer in the same view. Keep the user’s place in the content visible so the paywall feels like a continuation, not a dead end.
Include plan cards or a simple pricing comparison with monthly and annual options, a short list of included benefits, and one primary CTA to subscribe. Add a secondary action for dismissing, saving for later, or exploring a free alternative. If payment is part of the flow, show the handoff clearly with the selected plan carried through.
Write the experience for a user who is already interested but not yet convinced. The page should answer three questions fast: what did I hit, what do I get, and what happens next?
What to deliver
- Design the paywall modal or full-screen gate.
- Show free vs premium content cues in the underlying page.
- Add plan options with price, billing period, and key differences.
- Include a clear subscribe CTA and a secondary dismiss/back action.
- Show payment entry or handoff state for the chosen plan.
Incorporate a teaser element that gives a sneak peek at the locked content to entice users to subscribe!
