Following & Subscribing
Design the follow and subscribe flow for a creator profile or content card. Treat follow as a lightweight action and subscribe as a higher-commitment action with possible setup. The screen should make the two paths distinct before the user taps anything.
Start with a clear CTA in the profile header or card footer. If the account supports both actions, show them as separate controls with different labels, hierarchy, and outcomes. After tap, the button should change state immediately so the user knows whether they are now following, subscribed, or still in a pending setup step.
If subscription requires plan selection, payment, or notification preferences, surface that in a compact intermediate state. Keep the original creator context visible while the user confirms. After completion, show a confirmation state that reflects the new relationship and offers the next relevant action, such as viewing subscription settings, managing notifications, or unfollowing/unsubscribing.
What to deliver
- Design the follow/subscribe entry point for a creator profile or content card.
- Show the post-tap state change for both follow and subscribe actions.
- Include a confirmation state with the user’s new status and next step.
- If subscription needs setup, design the plan or preference step before confirmation.
- Define an unfollow/unsubscribe path with a clear recovery action.
To add a touch of delight, consider incorporating microinteractions that acknowledge the user's subscription. Think of a little animation or a custom icon that blooms, shines, or changes in a subtle, yet satisfying way.
