Activity Feed & Notifications
Design an activity feed and notification panel that help users catch up fast. Show recent events in a single list with avatars, event text, timestamps, and a clear read/unread pattern. The layout should make the newest items easy to spot and older items easy to skim.
Include a mix of notification types: mentions, follows, comments, reactions, and system updates. Each row should show the minimum context needed to understand the event without opening it. Unread items should stand out through weight, spacing, or a left rail, not color alone.
Add item-level actions for opening details, marking as read, and dismissing. Include an empty state for new users and a state for when there are no unread notifications left. Keep the screen compact, legible, and built for quick scanning rather than deep browsing.
What to deliver
- Design an activity feed list with 8–12 recent events
- Show read and unread notification states
- Include avatars, timestamps, and event labels for each item
- Add per-item actions for mark read, dismiss, and open detail
- Design an empty state and a no-new-notifications state
Incorporate hover states or micro-interactions to give a tactile sense of engagement when users interact with individual notifications.
