Voice Input Bar
Design a mobile text input bar with a microphone affordance built into the field. In its default state, it should read as a normal place to type, with voice input available but not dominant.
When the mic is tapped, the bar switches into recording mode and the field becomes a dictation surface. Show the waveform clearly inside the bar so the user can tell audio is being captured, not just waiting for input.
This is a small-screen interaction, so the control has to carry both typing and speaking without feeling crowded. The transition between idle and recording should be immediate and legible.
Think about how the bar behaves while listening: where the live transcript lands, how the user stops recording, and how the state can be canceled or resumed without losing context.
What to deliver
- Design the idle input bar with text entry and microphone icon.
- Design the active recording state with waveform and live dictation feedback.
- Design the stop or pause control inside the recording bar.
- Design the cancel or discard path for accidental activation.
- Show how dictated text appears back in the input after recording ends.
Make the recording state visually heavier than the idle state, but keep the stop control reachable with one thumb from the same bar.
