Focus / Do-Not-Disturb Setup

Design the mobile setup screen for a Focus mode or Do Not Disturb mode. The user is choosing who and which apps can still get through while the mode is on.

This lives in system settings, so it should feel native to a phone’s permission and control flow: clear labels, familiar toggles, and a calm, utility-first layout. The screen needs to support quick scanning and deliberate editing.

The core task is selection. Users may allow all contacts, specific people, favorite apps, or a custom mix, and the UI should make those choices easy to understand without reading a lot.

Treat this as a configuration moment before the mode is saved or activated. The challenge is to show enough structure that users trust what will be silenced and what will still break through.

What to deliver

  • Design the main setup screen with people and app allowance controls.
  • Show the current allowed list or summary state before any editing.
  • Include a clear save or enable action for the mode.
  • Design at least one edit state for adding or changing allowed people or apps.

Group people and apps separately, but keep the current allowance summary pinned near the top so users can verify the mode at a glance.
