Unlock Notification Toast
Design the in-game unlock toast that appears when a player hits a new level or earns an achievement. It should feel like part of the game HUD, not a system alert.
The toast needs to surface the reward fast: what unlocked, why it unlocked, and the reward type if there is one. Keep the message readable over active gameplay without taking over the screen.
This is a short-lived moment, so the layout has to work in motion. Think about how it enters, holds attention, and clears without blocking controls or hiding critical play space.
Make level-up and achievement unlocks feel related but not identical. The player should recognize the category at a glance, even if they only catch it for a second.
What to deliver
- Design the toast container, icon area, title, and supporting text.
- Show separate states for level reached and achievement unlocked.
- Define the entrance, hold, and exit treatment for the toast.
- Place the toast in a game-safe screen position that avoids core HUD clutter.
- Include a compact version for very short messages and a fuller version for longer unlock names.
Use a strong visual anchor for the unlock type, like a badge, level ring, or achievement icon, so the player can identify it before reading the text.
