User / Group Profile
Design a user or group profile page for a social or community product. The page should make identity, role, and current activity easy to scan without explanation. Decide whether the profile is for a person or a group, then design for that structure consistently.
Start with a strong header: avatar or group image, display name, handle or member count, short bio or description, and one primary action such as follow, message, join, or edit. Include secondary metadata only if it helps the page read faster, such as location, pronouns, team, status, or creation date.
Break the rest of the page into clear sections or tabs. Use them to separate content like posts, about, activity, members, media, or settings. Keep the active section obvious, and make it clear what content belongs where. If the profile is editable, show how changes are made and saved without losing the current context.
What to deliver
- Design the profile header with avatar, name, handle, role, and primary action.
- Lay out a clear tab or section switcher for posts, activity, members, or settings.
- Show profile details in grouped sections with labels, values, and secondary actions.
- Include an edit state with inline fields or a modal for updating key info.
- Add at least one empty or limited-content state for new or inactive profiles.
Use avatars or icons that represent user activities to add a personal touch and visual interest to the profiles.
