Nearby Device Share

Design the Nearby Device Share surface for a mobile system share flow. The user has already chosen a file and is now looking for a nearby recipient to send it to.

The main view should combine a radar-style discovery area with a device list. Some devices may be close, some farther away, and each one needs a clear way to start sending from this screen.

Once a device is selected, the surface stays in place and shows per-device sending progress. That progress should feel tied to the chosen device, not like a generic upload bar.

This is a system-level moment: it needs to read fast, support quick selection, and still make it obvious what is happening if multiple nearby devices appear or one starts transferring first.

What to deliver

  • Design the default nearby discovery state with radar and device list.
  • Design the selected-device sending state with visible per-device progress.
  • Design a busy state where multiple nearby devices are shown at once.
  • Design a no-devices-found state with a clear next step.
  • Design a transfer-complete state for the sent device.

Use one visual language for proximity and transfer state: keep the radar for discovery, then anchor the active device in the list with a live progress treatment so the user never loses the target.
