Icons

Design a coherent icon system for a product UI, not a standalone illustration sheet. Pick a small set of everyday actions and objects — for example search, settings, edit, delete, download, upload, notifications, and navigation — and draw them as a matched family.

Focus on consistency first: one stroke weight, one corner treatment, one fill strategy, one grid. Show how the icons behave at 16px and 24px, and make sure each shape still reads when placed beside text, in toolbars, menus, or empty states.

Include interaction states for the icons that can be clicked or toggled. Hover, active, and disabled should feel like the same system, with color and weight changes that do not break legibility. If you use animation, keep it minimal and tied to state change, not decoration.

Place the set inside real interface patterns so the work is judged in context. The goal is not just to make icons that look polished, but to make a set that can ship across a product without special cases or one-off fixes.

What to deliver

  • Design a 12–16 icon set for common UI actions and objects
  • Show each icon in at least two sizes, including a 16px and 24px version
  • Define stroke, corner, and fill rules so the set reads as one system
  • Include active, hover, and disabled states for interactive icons
  • Place the icons in realistic UI contexts, not on a blank sheet

Infuse personality into your icons with a unique design twist; perhaps a specific color palette, or a subtle animation that brings the icon to life when hovered over.
