Watch Complications
Design a set of watch-face complications — the small, glanceable widgets around the edge of a smartwatch face that each surface a single piece of live data.
Cover at least three slot shapes: a tiny corner slot (icon + one value), a small circular slot (a ring or gauge), and a rectangular slot (a short label plus a value or mini sparkline).
Each slot is only a few millimetres, so hierarchy is everything: one number or state must read instantly at arm’s length, with supporting detail dropping away as the slot shrinks.
Show one app’s data adapting across the slots — e.g. a fitness app showing ring progress in the circular slot and “steps to goal” in the rectangular one.
What to deliver
- Design the complication in at least three slot shapes (corner, circular, rectangular)
- Show the live state and a no-data / not-yet-synced fallback
- Demonstrate one app’s data adapting across the slot sizes
- Specify type sizes and the minimum legible value
Design the smallest slot first — if it reads at a glance there, the larger slots are easy.
