Internal Tool

Design a single internal operations dashboard for employees who need to track work, review updates, and move items forward. Make it feel like a real tool used every day, not a marketing concept. The screen should have a clear structure: navigation on the left, a working area in the center, and a detail view or utility panel on the right.

The main content should focus on one primary workflow, such as tasks, projects, or requests. Show the fields that matter most at a glance: title, owner, status, due date, and progress. Include filters, search, and sort controls, but keep them secondary to the task list. The selected item should reveal deeper context, recent activity, notes, and the next available action without forcing the user to leave the page.

Add collaboration signals where they help the workflow: unread comments, presence indicators, recent edits, or assignment changes. Use status colors and progress states sparingly so the page stays readable. The result should feel fast to scan, easy to operate, and specific enough that a teammate could use it without extra explanation.

What to deliver

  • Design the main workspace with a left nav, top utility bar, and primary content area.
  • Show a task or project list with status, owner, due date, and priority.
  • Add a detail panel for the selected item with notes, activity, and actions.
  • Include create, edit, and filter controls that stay reachable in the layout.
  • Show collaboration signals like presence, comments, and recent updates.

Infuse personality into the tool with unique icons or color coding making it not only efficient but also enjoyable to use.
