Watch face
Design a smartwatch watch face, not a full app. The screen should answer one question instantly: what time is it, and what else matters right now? Treat the clock as the anchor, then place a small number of complications around it for things like weather, activity, calendar, or notifications.
Keep the layout tight. A watch face has almost no room, so every element needs a job and a clear priority. Show how the face behaves in a normal state, when a complication is tapped, and when content is unavailable. If a module has no data, the face should still feel intentional rather than empty.
Design for real watch conditions: quick glances, small screen, low light, and limited touch precision. Include a version with denser information and a simpler version with fewer complications. Use typography, contrast, and spacing to make the time readable first, with secondary data always staying secondary.
What to deliver
- Design the default watch face with time as the primary layer.
- Add 2–4 glanceable complications around the clock face.
- Show one interaction state for tapping a complication or opening a detail view.
- Include at least one alternate face layout for different content density.
- Define low-light and high-contrast variants for readability.
Embrace minimalism to keep the watch face readable under various lighting conditions and from different angles.
